Body rot on Series 1 Disco's is legendary! If the rot really is extensive, I can't see that there's any reason to do it unless the car has huge sentimental value and / or you can do all the welding yourself, have weeks with nothing to do and positively enjoy doing this work!
If Disco 1's ever become valuable enough to justify the money that you're going to have to sink into it otherwise, it's unlikely to be anytime soon!
