Late Discovery 3 or a 2010 Discovery 4?

Post by Andy » Sat Sep 10, 2016 11:56 am

Looking to purchase a Discovery 3 or 4 and some people tell me that the late 3 had a lot of problems sorted out and the 2010 4 suffers a few issues. My preference would be for the 2010 Discovery 4. Can anyone provide any information about any known issues for the 2010 Discovery 4 ? Appreciate any information you can provide.
Thanks. Andy.

If and I stress if the Turbo goes in a D4, I believe it is an engine out/body off job. That is not going to be cheap.

Mention "D3" or "D4" to the owner of an older Disco and this is a fairly regular reply.

Body removal is something for the major service, when the belts all need changing, at around 105,000 miles. To a properly equipped and knowledgable specialist, it's nothing like as bad as it sounds, with around £800 being to right amount.

I'd go for the a combination of full history, condition and then the D4 if it can fit within your budget.

I think if I was looking at late d3/early d4 money I'd go d3. If I could stretch to a later d4 fitted with the sdv6 engine I'd get that
