Christmas Party and Off Road Event-10th Dec

Post by RichardDSII » Thu Sep 01, 2016 8:40 am

Hi folks :)

Saturday 10th December

Back by popular demand we are once again having our off road event at Parkwood off road centre in Tong, Bradford and our Christmas meal at The Hunsworth near junction 26 M62
The Premier Inn we stay at is known as 'Bradford South' on their website.

The meal will be the standard Christmas fayre, when the menu becomes available I'll add it here.
Costs are tbc, but adult meals are usually no more than £15 and children's around £5.

Brief overview for those that haven't been before, we meet at Parkwood around 09.30 for a 10.00 start having signed on and coughed up the cash to Rachel (cost tbc but around £30-35 ish) we then go play in the woods for the day. There are routes suitable for all Discos, shiny to tray back...

The evening meal is booked for 19.30 I believe and the most important bit...the fancy dress theme  this year it has been decided that the letter 'D' for Discovery shall be the theme, so as an example Dracula or Darth Varder are 'D's', feel free to let your imaginations run wild

We will need a £5 deposit per person asap please to secure a place for the meal.

This year due to number limitations placed on us by the restaurant we are intitally having to say members only for the meal I'm afraid...
As always, any questions feel free to shout up :)
Richard.

I enjoyed the off roading last year; if I can get away from work early enough this year I think I might pop up... :D

I shall be attending Tong with hopefully my own Disco (albeit chaueffeur driven until February!) and Lewis should be joining me in his silly red noisy pickup thing.

I think Lewis has been in touch with you directly about the meal.

We also need menu choices as well please, if you could let us know, listing by name what each person wants that would be great :)

So I had a day out with the Discovery Owners Club at their annual off road event held at Parkwood Off Road Centre or Tong as some of you may know it as.

A good day was had in my completely standard disco on very low tread road tyres and I got stuck......once.....and that was down to the plough on the back digging into the clay!!!

Anyway nothing got broken so I'm a happy chap.

Here are the photos to prove it

And then Sunday morning it required a wash so it's back to how it was

Well, another Christmas 'do' done and dusted :D
Thanks to everyone who came along to our little shindig, we hope you all enjoyed yourselves :D
Quite a wet under tyre off road day at Parkwood off road centre, which made some of the routes interesting
Both John and Brian picking awards for damaged motors while off road, with Charlie being 'most spectacularly stuck', Welliebob getting the 'mines stuck again' award, John picked the 'most feastive car' award. The fancy dress awards went to Stephen for most original for his 'old dear' outfit, Francis best female costume, Stuart for best male costume, Martin for funniest, with Chloe for best kids outfit.
:D

Many thanks for organising the off roading, and for leading us non locals around some challenging but non damaging trails; once I'd remembered to engage centre diff lock I had very few problems...

My eight year old passenger thoroughly enjoyed herself, and asks if you could be kind enough to organise another weekend next year! In fact she's told me that when she is old enough she wants to borrow my Disco and drive around herself...
