Dear all,

Please could one of you fine people offer some suggestions to solve the following problem on my 300TDI Discovery 1:

Some days ago, the Disco started developing the following fault:

Was running fine / Still starts up and ticks over fine / but ...when driving with engine under any kind of load, vehicle starts losing power / spluttering / kangaroo juice symptoms.

I have tried the following without success:

Alternative fuel source
New fuel filter
Cleaned fuel pipes
Cleaned fuel lift pump

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The symptoms sound similar to a sticking EGR. It is simple to remove and blank off.

Rich.

If there's exhaust smoke, it could be the turbo hoses delaminating internally.

A sticking EGR will usually be accompanied with excessive smoke.

The symptoms you have mentioned suggest to me that you need a new fuel lift pump.

If you get a replacement make sure it is a quality unit such as delphi.
